Giving Tuesday – May 5, 2020
What is Giving Tuesday?
This year, GivingTuesday is May 5, 2020.
Giving Tuesday is a “global generosity movement” that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in countries around the world. Millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
We have two days for getting deals – Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On #GivingTuesday, we have a day for giving back. Together, people are creating a new ritual for our annual calendar. #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season.
Every act of generosity counts, and each means even more when we give together.
What is BGC Fundraising For?
After a lengthy search process, Beautiful Gate Center recently obtained a lease on its first building in which we will open our pilot program. We are now working to fix up the building, which needs some love, and there are costs to obtain the materials required such as drywall, cabinetry and lumber for an ADA wheelchair ramp, to name a few.
Additionally, we will need to outfit several classrooms with equipment including tables, chairs, interactive whiteboards, assessment kits and other basic educational and therapeutic supplies.
For Giving Tuesday 2020, we have set a goal of raising $10,000 to help us up fit, equip and open our new facility.
COVID-19 and Giving Tuesday
We know that in this season of social distancing, sheltering in place and concern about the COVID-19 virus, there is a great need to support causes related to COVID-19 and we encourage you to do that.
We would ALSO ask that you also consider giving to support a great group of kids who are, and in most cases always will be, significantly impacted by Developmental Disabilities every day – long after COVID-19 is no longer a concern. For these individuals, their challenges are there each day and have a huge impact on their quality of life and that of their families. With your help, Beautiful Gate Center can be a huge part of improving their lives for the next 50 – 70+ years.
Executive Director
Beautiful Gate Center
Angela M. Muirhead was elected Chair, and Executive Director, of the Beautiful Gate Center in September, 2015. As an accomplished business professional, she presents a thirty year foundation and proven track record of achievements in business within the real estate, banking and legal industries. Her family recently moved to the Charleston area in the summer of 2014.
Angela was President and Co-Founder of Emerald Mortgagee Assistance Company, a private company providing support services to the secondary mortgage market for mortgage-backed securities sold on Wall Street and led the company to become a multi-million dollar company providing collateral supports to the largest banks, mortgage servicers and federal servicing agencies in the country. She sold the company 5 years later to a $6 billion dollar publicly traded company based in California. After the sale in 2000, she founded her second company, Paragon Property Services, a private Colorado real estate brokerage and consulting firm for clients in both the commercial and residential markets.
